Built and tested in-house

Shafts, yokes and tubes all machined on site

Beyond transmitting torque, the column adds four-way steering wheel adjustment, steering anti-theft, collapse energy absorption, vibration absorption, multi-function power distribution and angle-sensing memory. The telescopic shaft uses a precision ball structure for silent adjustment, developed in both two-race and three-race configurations.

Shafts, universal joint yokes and aluminum column tubes are all machined in-house: one automated shaft line produces 300,000 steering shafts a year, two yoke lines produce 1.2 million yokes, and one aluminum tube line produces 280,000 column tubes.

  • One automated shaft line produces 300,000 steering shafts a year; two yoke lines produce 1.2 million universal joint yokes; one aluminum tube line produces 280,000 column tubes.
  • The column assembly line checks bearing press fitting, assembly, retention force, adjustment force and locking torque, with error-proofing machines for bearing and circlip pressing.
  • Test equipment includes torsional clearance and slip force benches, million-cycle fatigue and static torsion benches, and metallographic and salt spray equipment.
