Inspected at every station, not just at the end

The pneumatic column is the second of JDONG’s two main steering column categories, with electric and steer-by-wire adjustment under development. Production is fully inline-inspected: a dedicated ball drive shaft assembly and inspection line verifies torsional clearance and slip force in production, and the column assembly line checks bearing press fitting, assembly, retention force, adjustment force and locking torque.

Test equipment includes torsional clearance and slip force benches, a million-cycle fatigue and static torsion bench, a million-cycle torsional slip and muddy water bench, and metallographic and salt spray equipment.

  • A dedicated ball drive shaft assembly and inspection line verifies torsional clearance and slip force in production.
  • The column assembly line checks bearing press fitting, assembly, retention force, adjustment force and locking torque.
  • Error-proofing machines for bearing and circlip pressing prevent mis-assembly before it reaches inspection.
