JD-STC-PNEUPneumatic Steering Column
Pneumatically adjusted steering column for heavy-duty cabs, with 100% inline inspection of torsional clearance, slip force, retention force and locking torque.

Air-actuated column adjustment for heavy and medium truck, bus and new-energy commercial vehicle cabs.
Torsional clearance, slip force, retention force, adjustment force and locking torque checked in production.
A dedicated assembly and inspection line verifies every shaft during production.

Inspected at every station, not just at the end
The pneumatic column is the second of JDONG’s two main steering column categories, with electric and steer-by-wire adjustment under development. Production is fully inline-inspected: a dedicated ball drive shaft assembly and inspection line verifies torsional clearance and slip force in production, and the column assembly line checks bearing press fitting, assembly, retention force, adjustment force and locking torque.
Test equipment includes torsional clearance and slip force benches, a million-cycle fatigue and static torsion bench, a million-cycle torsional slip and muddy water bench, and metallographic and salt spray equipment.
- A dedicated ball drive shaft assembly and inspection line verifies torsional clearance and slip force in production.
- The column assembly line checks bearing press fitting, assembly, retention force, adjustment force and locking torque.
- Error-proofing machines for bearing and circlip pressing prevent mis-assembly before it reaches inspection.
